Interested what impact the next generation sumarine cable system will have for the future of data gateways? Take a dive into Polar Connect and unlock the future of Arctic connectivity. The ligthning talk will focus on the latest achievements of Polar Connect initiative and will invite the audience to take part in it.

Much of the collaborative work under the GEANT umbrella happens in the GN5-1 project which runs from 2023-2024. Planning for the GN5-2 project has started and that project is expected to run from 2025-2027. As a Nordic member of GEANT’s project planning committee I’ll give the audience an idea about how, where and when the Nordic NRENs can influence the planning of what will be worked on in the GN5-2 project in particular.

Assessment and the assurance of a student's identity and academic integrity play an important role in higher education. Electronic examinations are undoubtedly the way forward in making assessment fluent. In a collaborative effort, Finnish Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have established a system (https://e-exam.fi/in-english/) wherein each institution provides its own designated exam space. Students can conveniently schedule their exams at their preferred times, decoupling the process from the lecturer's schedule. A recent (and revolutionary) enhancement allows students to book exams at any partnering institution, significantly reducing the need for travelling. This enhancement proves particularly advantageous for lifelong learners who may be enrolled in courses across various institutions. The 'Exam visit' program has been taken on by 22 Higher Education Institutions, and 17 400 Exam visits were made in 2022. This presentation delves into the advantages and the technical underpinnings of this implementation.
