THANK YOU!
Thank you all for making this community workshop a great event. You have shared news, views, insights, ideas; you have spurred discussions, laughed, and been part of spreading a true collaborative spirit. You also hold the key to making this event even better - so all registered participants have received a link to a quick survey for which we will very much appreciate your feedback.
Slides and presentations from the workshop will be added to the session overview and lightning talks page as they become available.

The NORDUnet Community Workshop #NCW23 (previously known as the Technical Workshop) will take place on 12 – 14 September 2023 in Copenhagen.
More specifically at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ørestads Boulevard 114-118, 2300 København S
The previous NORDUnet Technical Workshops have been key events for the Nordic research and education networking community for many years. It has provided a forum for professionals working in the field to come together, share knowledge, and collaborate on technical challenges and opportunities. This year, the workshop has become the NORDUnet Community Workshop, #NCW23, to signal more clearly that the workshop is for everybody in the community; both Nordic NRENs and all higher education institutions... and not only the very technical members.
Call for Lightning Talks
NORDUnet would like to invite proposals for lightning talks for the NORDUnet Community Workshop (NCW23). The community workshop will take place in Copenhagen, 12-14 September 2023.
We have two lightning talk sessions in the community workshop program this year – Tuesday 12 September in the morning and Thursday 14 September in the afternoon. Both are plenary sessions, while the rest of the program features breakout topical workshops. The lightning talks is the opportunity to update the community on new developments and initiatives.
At NCW23, Lightning Talks are five-minute presentations focusing on one key point; this can be an idea, a successful project, a cautionary tale, a collaboration invitation, or even a quick tip. Everything within the R&E community. The NCW23 offers you a great audience who will be happy to learn about progress, news and views – and eager to give you feedback.
“There are no limits. You can choose to focus on some minuscule technical detail only relevant to one or two in the audience. No problem, everyone else will know that in five minutes somebody else will take the floor”, says Lars Fischer, Lightning Talks session chair and member of the programme committee.
Use the time wisely to present the pertinent message of the subject matter without the need for background history, the problem space or a business-case justification.
If (with emphasis on “if”!) you want to use slides, make sure they are clear, light and not too many (typically one or two will do).
Submit your lightning talk proposals – speaker name, affiliation, title, one or two paragraph abstract – to lightning@ncw2023.net. Deadline for submission is Monday 4 September 2023.
Looking forward to hearing your talk in Copenhagen.
NCW survey results
Big thanks to you who have taken the time and responded to our NCW survey.
From your responses it is very clear that the existing workshop format with a mix of presentations and discussions is much preferred over presentations only or discussions only.
The overall programme has in general met with a good reception, however, improvements are needed in the “build-up” phase in terms of populating and announcing the programme, sessions, speakers, descriptions and general information much earlier.
You found the venue to be fitting the purpose, and appreciated the location and access to the airport.
A somewhat surprising finding from the survey has been to see how many first-timers actually attended the event. 40% of all respondents were new to the workshop. We hope that these first-timers will become regulars, and that we will continue to be able to attract new faces to the workshop.
Once again thank you for your feedback which we value.
Special Sessions
