DescriptionFrom rare incidents, distributed denial-of-service attacks have become a
daily problem for research and education networking. Whether it is a
student too lazy to come to class DDoS-ing their school or whether
organised crime decides to hold you to ransom for some extra profit,
DDoS-es are an ever increasing pain in the backside. In this session we
will provide an overview of how SURFnet works with its community to
tackle this issue. From academic research, to operational protection,
even beyond the borders of the NREN, to prosecuting the culprits: we
will dicsuss DDoS mitigation in the broadest sense.
