Cloud Strategy and Data Migration Efforts at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway

DescriptionUiT has practiced a cloud-first strategy for several years and is currently in the process of migrating large parts of its data to the cloud. This is a complex process which needs to take many aspects of data governance into account but will give UiT a much-improved resilience and protection against the increasing threat of cyberattacks from foreign state and criminal actors. UiT is taking a pragmatic approach to data migration using multiple technologies including OneDrive/Sharepoint, file and object storage and cloud-based backup services to find the best haven for the different data categories it needs to govern.
