DescriptionPreviously a staple of formal computer education, nowadays campus computer rooms are beginning to collect dust. Not only do most students bring their own laptop or tablet to school but they have begun expecting computers to replace the traditional pencil-and-paper exam format. In this talk, I will give an overview how this problem was solved at Reykjavik University in Iceland where we developed a Linux-based USB bootable exam system for our students’ laptops. In particular, I will also discuss a variety of problems that came up during the process and how they were resolved.
