DescriptionIt was not the way we looked at it ten years ago, but today we can no longer ignore, that the NREN services in many ways are in direct competition with services from the commercial providers, and yet we cannot always promote ourselves in the same way – or can we?
The purpose of this workshop is to take status and share best practices, ideas and experiences on promoting existing services to the users and the community, taking the special features of an NREN into account. Where do the NREN service marketing differ from the commercial providers possibilities? Which (marketing) tools can we use? How do we look at user/customer needs, market potential, service values? How can we use the classical five P’s of Marketing: Product, price, promotion, place and people?
The discussion will focus on two of the more prominent NREN services: the video services/conferencing and the research network itself.
With the focus on what we can do together, the workshop will try to conclude on
- How can we benefit from being part of the Nordic or European collaborations?
- Where does it make sense to do so?
- Which services?
- Actions?
Project Manager Video services, Thorkild Jensen, DeiC will present the video services case.
