DescriptionMany media stream recording system (e.g. Mediasite,
Matterhorn) relay on an internal calendar database for scheduling
recording session. Import and export of events may be supported, but
typically through somewhat cumbersome file upload web interface. UNINETT
is developing a recording control system base 100% on standardized
calendar protocols (iCalendar, CalDAV and iTip). Users schedule
recordings in their own favourite (standard) calendar with their
preferred calendar client and simply invite the recording system to
"attend" the relevant event. Users may edit, move or cancel events. The
recording system will be seamlessly informed (by help of the calendar
standards).
