Natural hazards and ground movements studied by satellite radar interferometry: Iceland results and requirements on data transport, storage and computing

Freysteinn Sigmundsson
TrackTrack 1 -- Store Scene
DescriptionThe presentation will focus on how we can use precise mapping of displacements of the surface of the Earth to mitigate the effects of natural hazards (volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides), and what is needed in terms of computing, data storage and data transport.  Large amount of data is acquired by satellites. After downloading to Earth it needs to accessible for analysing and interpretation.  Examples of what has been produced in this respect in Iceland will be presented
